Parkour is a sport similar to gymnastics and karate
where the athlete runs , jumps , flips and hurdles through citys and other intense
obstacles. He /she will keep a steady pace while doing this. Skills such as jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling, swinging and wall scaling are used.
The word freerunning is sometimes used interchangeably. Freerunning, however is a competition sport. Freerunning includes the use of tricking moves such as aerial rotations and spins, but parkour founder David Belle does not consider these part of parkour because the moves are merely for show, are not efficient, can not assist anyone and do not help the participant to get from place to place.
the athlete parkour is called a traceur, which means "to hurry" or "to move quickly". |
